What this is

Welcome to my (third) homepage! This is a place I do things on the web.

As this is my third edition of my website, things are a bit scattered, but I've tried to keep everything together. Take a look at:

Here

  • MTT
    • This is the third (and current) edition of this website where I do transit line reviews! Because sometimes getting there is the trip.
  • DTT
    • Take a look around you! Here, I take a look at downtowns I come across, becasue even though they may all seem the same, they all feel different. Remember, small travel can be fun travel!
  • Portfolio
    • Some cool projects I’ve done. (This page was also written in Jekyll, and was my first experiment in the language.)
  • GIS Website Demo
    • This was the first edition of this website created to show some basic HTML, CSS, and (ew) JavaScript. It is entirely hand-written
  • Co-Op Portfolio
    • This I despise and is the second edition of this website created to showcase myself for an introduction to the workforce course in Co-Op. (I had a much better time actually working.) It's still valid, I guess.

There

  • @andrewrontheroad
    • My Instagram account. I put some interesting* things I see there. Some of them are shorter versions of what’s on here.
  • YouTube
    • My YouTube channel. I put videos there. Mostly how-to’s and stuff.
  • Mac Self-Help
    • Website I put together mainly for my Granny (and myself) on how to do basic Mac stuff. Could be a little out of date as it’s from the Yosemite era.
  • * Interest not guaranteed.

    Colophon

This is currently held together with a mess of Markdown1 files and HTML edited in BBEdit,2 rendered with Jekyll, managed through the Finder, and hosted on GitHub.

Body text is (ideally) in Geneva (or Verdana), with headings in IBM Plex Sans or Gill Sans.3
Theming allows for dark backgrounds with white text in dark mode (the default) or #EEEEEE backgrounds with dark text in light mode (if specifically requested). This theoretically works on any platform that supports light/dark mode (such as Windows 10), but I have only tested it on macOS and iOS.

This website might only be tested in Safari and maybe Firefox.

UTF-8 is used on this site. This allows for fancy äçčéñtš and typographical symbols ↓😁 (but as text)❢

    JavaScript Free (mostly)

This site is mostly JavaScript free. JavaScript is occasionally used to render some features like math or trickier formatting or a map, but it is not required to view the site, and most pages do not require JavaScript. I believe that if JavaScript is needed to view a site, the site has failed. No site should run programs on my computer without permission, and all sites should be respectful of my processor, Internet speed, and data plan.

    1. Compiled mainly in MacDown or iA Writer on iOS.

    2. Which doesn’t suck.

    3. Because you should never use Arial
